Short version: MeshComs is a fan-built, non-commercial site. We don't sell your data, we don't run ads, and we collect as little as possible. This policy explains exactly what we do (and don't) do.
MeshComs (meshcoms.com) is an independently operated, fan-built community resource for Meshtastic enthusiasts. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Meshtastic LLC in any way.

Geolocation (Community Finder only)
The Community Finder tool requests your device's location via the browser's standard Geolocation API. This is used solely to calculate distance to Meshtastic communities and suggest the closest one. Your coordinates are:
Analytics (if you accept cookies)
If you accept cookies, we may load analytics tools (such as Google Analytics) to understand how visitors use the site in aggregate — e.g., which pages are visited and from which regions. This data is anonymized and used only to improve the site. If you decline cookies, no analytics are loaded.
Server logs
Like most websites, our hosting provider (Amazon Web Services) may retain standard server access logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited, timestamps). These logs are retained for a limited period for security and diagnostic purposes and are not used for profiling.
We use your browser's localStorage to remember your cookie preference (accepted or declined). This is stored only on your device and is not transmitted to us.
If you accept analytics cookies, third-party cookies (e.g., from Google Analytics) may be set. You can clear these at any time through your browser settings. If you decline, no third-party cookies are set.
We do not use cookies for advertising, retargeting, or any commercial purpose.
MeshComs links to external community resources — Discord servers, Telegram groups, Reddit communities, and other sites. Once you leave MeshComs, their own privacy policies apply. We have no control over and no responsibility for their data practices.
MeshComs is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

We do not store personal data on our servers beyond what is retained in standard server access logs (typically 90 days or less, per our hosting provider's defaults). Your cookie preference is stored locally on your device until you clear it.
We may update this policy as the site evolves (for example, when analytics are added). The effective date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of the site after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
